WORKING TOWARDS OUR CQC REGISTRATION

Ashley James Medical is pleased to confirm that we are actively working towards formal registration with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
As part of this process, we are currently seeking new commercial premises that will allow us to establish our full compliance infrastructure. This step is essential to ensuring our governance, policies, and clinical systems meet the required regulatory standards.
Once our new premises is secured, we will proceed with our CQC registration application and begin preparation for inspection. This includes finalising clinical governance frameworks, quality assurance processes, safeguarding arrangements, and operational oversight in line with CQC expectations.
Achieving CQC registration will allow Ashley James Medical to undertake regulated activities where appropriate and further enhance the services we provide to our clients. More importantly, it represents formal recognition of the high professional, clinical, and ethical standards we already strive to uphold.
This milestone will cement the work we have been undertaking to build a reliable, transparent, and professional medical service, and will provide our clients with additional assurance that our care is delivered in accordance with nationally recognised regulatory standards.

Ashley-James Redfern
Founder & Head of Service
Ashley is a works in Pre-hospital Trauma and Emergency Care, and is an accomplished emergency medical technician with over a decade of combined experience delivering exceptional frontline care across the UK’s 999 system, events, international repatriations, TV and Film productions, secure mental health environments, diplomatic & VIP Close Protection medical, Joint Response Units, and specialist complex-care settings.
Internationally qualified in Pre-hospital Trauma & Life Support and a Certified Professional in Emergency Trauma Care, Ashley brings an advanced clinical perspective shaped by diverse, high-risk operational environments.
Ashley is also qualified in Technical Rope Rescue and has worked as a Rope Rescue Medical Technician, supporting high-risk sporting events, stunt teams, and complex set construction within the TV/Film industry.
Recognised for his adaptability, discretion, and calm leadership, Ashley offers a rare blend of clinical excellence, tactical awareness, and operational professionalism in every environment he operates in.
As Head of Service for Ashley James Medical, he ensures the organisation delivers the highest standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, providing clients with a trusted and uncompromising level of care.
Mary-Claire Barnaville
Clinical Director
Mary is a highly capable and compassionate HCPC-registered paramedic and serves as the Clinical Director of Ashley James Medical. With a strong foundation in emergency pre-hospital care, Mary brings valuable experience from her time serving with South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAMB) and South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), where she worked across diverse and often high-pressure frontline 999 environments.
Before qualifying as a paramedic, Mary developed a deep understanding of patient-centred care through her work in the broader healthcare and care sectors, giving her a unique ability to combine clinical precision with empathy and discretion.
As Clinical Director, Mary oversees clinical governance, and supports continuous professional development for all staff.
Sean Swan
Operations Manager
Sean brings over 20 years of experience in emergency care, leadership, and pre-hospital operations. Beginning his career with the Scottish Ambulance Service, Sean built a strong foundation in frontline emergency response before transitioning into senior leadership roles within the private sector.
He served as a Duty Station Officer and Operational Commander for a private ambulance provider contracted to South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS), where he was responsible for overseeing clinical crews, managing resources, and ensuring safe and effective service delivery across high-pressure environments. Sean is also highly experienced in event medicine and TV/film medical support.
As Operations Manager, Sean ensures operational readiness, and oversees planning, logistics, and deployment strategy.
